Getting started

Requirements

Minimum Recommended
WordPress 6.6 latest
PHP 8.1 8.3 or newer
Elementor (free) 3.35 latest 4.x
PHP memory limit 128 MB 256 MB
Max execution time 60 s 120 s or more, for demo imports

Terrifico is tested on PHP 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 and 8.4, WordPress 6.6 to 7.1, Elementor 3.35 and 4.x, and with WooCommerce. Terrifico → System Status checks your server against this table.

Elementor Pro is not required. Everything in the demos is built with free Elementor and the Terrifico widgets.

Installation

  1. Theme: go to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme, choose terrifico-pro-<version>.zip and click Install Now. Don't activate it yet if you want the wizard to add a child theme first (it works either way).
  2. Plugin: go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose terrifico-core-<version>.zip, then install and activate it.
  3. Activate the theme under Appearance → Themes.

Activating the theme also installs the free Landing demo in the background, so your site has a home page straight away (details). You can switch to another demo at any time.

The setup wizard opens by itself the first time. If you closed it, find it under Terrifico → Setup wizard.

Upload fails with "The link you followed has expired"? Your host's upload limit is smaller than the zip. Ask your host to raise upload_max_filesize and post_max_size to 64 MB, or upload the unzipped folder by SFTP to wp-content/themes/ (theme) and wp-content/plugins/ (plugin).

The setup wizard

Six short steps. Every step can be skipped and done later from the Terrifico menu.

  1. Welcome: an overview of what the wizard will do.
  2. License: paste the key from your purchase email (it starts with TFPRO-) and click Activate. This turns on automatic updates and demo imports. See License and updates.
  3. Child theme: creates and activates Terrifico Pro Child. Recommended if you'll ever add custom code: your changes then survive theme updates. Your Theme Options and widgets carry over. See Child theme.
  4. Plugins: installs Elementor and Contact Form 7 (both ticked: the demos use them) and, if you want to sell products, WooCommerce. Plugins you already have are shown as Active.
  5. Demo: pick a demo to import, or Start with a blank site. See Demos.
  6. Done: links to add your logo, open Theme Options, edit the home page and view your site.

Exit setup at the top closes the wizard at any point. A small reminder stays on the Dashboard, Themes and Plugins screens until you finish or click Not now.

After setup

  • Logo and site icon: Appearance → Customize → Site Identity. For a transparent header on a dark photo, also set a Light logo in Terrifico → Theme Options → Header.
  • Menus: Appearance → Menus. There are two locations: Primary menu (header) and Footer menu.
  • Footer widgets: Appearance → Widgets, Footer column 1–4.
  • Colors and fonts: Terrifico → Theme Options → Colors / Typography. Elementor's global colors and fonts follow these automatically, so pages built with them update too.
  • Home page: edit with Elementor from Pages, or Edit the home page on the wizard's last step.
